Terms of Service

Last updated: March 27, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Keystone platform ("Service") operated by Keystone ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Keystone is a technical memory platform for software engineering teams. It connects to your GitHub repositories, processes pull requests and commits, and uses AI to synthesize decisions and context. The Service includes a web application, API, and CLI tool.

2. Eligibility and Account Requirements

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using Keystone, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. You must have a valid GitHub account to authenticate and use the Service.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at security@keystone.dev if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Connect repositories you do not own or have explicit permission to access.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Circumvent rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or security controls.
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize access to the Service without authorization.
  • Transmit malicious code, spam, or any content that disrupts the Service.

4. GitHub Integration

By connecting a GitHub repository, you grant Keystone permission to read repository metadata, pull requests, commits, and related data through the GitHub API and GitHub Apps. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to connect any repository to the Service, particularly in organizational contexts.

You can revoke Keystone's access to your GitHub account at any time through your GitHub settings under "Authorized OAuth Apps" or "GitHub Apps".

5. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries, synthesis, and responses based on your repository data. AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are solely responsible for reviewing and validating any AI-generated output before relying on it for technical or business decisions.

We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain all ownership rights to your code, repositories, and any data you connect to Keystone. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to access and process that data solely to provide the Service.

The Keystone platform, including its design, software, and trademarks, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy or use any part of it outside the scope of these Terms.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may perform maintenance, apply updates, or temporarily suspend the Service without notice. We are not liable for any losses resulting from downtime or service interruptions.

8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Keystone shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, without prior notice. Upon termination, your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the application at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if unresolved, through binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.
